  1. my last show of a 7 show run. solid finish with a great set list...but probably not deserving of the "goodnight, irene" ending (which I always think of as the punctuation mark on a GREAT show). that's not to say the gourds didn't leave it all on the stage, but the crowd kind of ran out of gas about 2/3 of the way through. if they hadn't, it was shaping up to be something special.

  2. if I was there...there would be NO running out of gas...

  4. I agree with the "running out of gas" comment. I actually thought the peak of the show was Burn the Honeysuckle when the room was full. After Country Love the energy started to wane in the room, for sure. Smith's is not exactly the best venue either, in my opinion, but that's another discussion. Still, this was my first live Gourds show and I enjoyed ever bit of it.

  5. seemed to me the diehards, those that arrived very early, got to their seats on the wall oppostite the bar and stayed in them for the most part of the night. no meat in the seat for me. it seemed that over of a third of the crowd just freakin' left after Shinyribs...their loss and obvioiusly mine too, since i would have gotten a better show had more people "brought it." i tried.

anyways, it was a hell of a night, great first show. no regrets.
