  1. Ruth and I had a great time at the Morristown, TN show at the Rose Center. The Gourds started the day in Knoxville with a free show on WDVX at the Square Room on Market Square. I couldn't get out of work to see it and, sadly, I can't stream live radio at work so I have to take my friends' word that it was a great set. Why wouldn't it be?

About 200 people were at the Rose Show on a drizzly night. We had come up from Knoxville to see the show as a wedding anniversary present to ourselves. We shared a table with a couple of great fans who had traveled down I-81 from Kingsport and enjoyed pre-show conversation about other shows we each were planning to see in the coming months (Avett Bros., Old Crow Medicine Show, Dave Alvin, etc.).

"Shinyribs" opened the show with a really nice set. It was our first time to see Kevin perform solo like this and we enjoyed it a lot (even though the loudest talker in the world was stationed at the table next to us...)

Ruth and I didn't realize the show was "cooler friendly" and BYOB, so we arrived empty-handed (knowing the show was in a museum/cultural center, we figured there'd be no alcohol served either). Our new friends from Kingsport showed true hospitality and shared some beers (and a few shots) with us during the show. We owe them big time the next time they come to Knoxville and we swapped e-mail addresses to stay in contact.

I didn't think to write down a set list for Shinyribs, but I did try to cobble one for the Gourds set. [listed above in your post]

We enjoyed the show (and picked up a couple of missing cds from our collection) and can't wait for the next time the Gourds are in our neck of the woods.
